Olivier Ravoire Gigondas Red 2019 Armatura
This range was named in honor of the epic Capitan Ravoire, a valiant knight in the 16th century in the Comtat Venaissin in 1593. Olivier Ravoire was keen to highlight the history of the Ravoire family. In this respect, the different appellations have been named using terms associated with chivalry. Armatura, the name of the Gigondas vintage, comes from the Latin word for armor and refers to the essential equipment that protected knights as they went into battle and duals. The vintage is the result of a meticulous blend of grapes from the best plots in the appellation. This wine was created to offer a rich tasting experience to share and discover.

This Grenache-dominant blend (augmented by a small proportion of Syrah) highlights rich, roasted black-plum and cherry compote flavors accented by streaks of granite and gun flint. Voluptuous in texture and finishing on fine, furry tannins, it's an immediately enjoyable wine with a spicy char and cinnamon finish. Best now–2026. |

Notes of blackberries, cassis, black olives, dried thyme and licorice. Medium-to full-bodied with creamy but structured tannins. Flavorful finish with strawberries. An excellent Gigondas here. Drinkable now, but better from 2023. |
