Newton Skyside Cabernet Sauvignon 2017

This new label by Newton, replacing what was known as their "Red Label" wines, really delivers the goods. Their 2016 bottling checks all the boxes of what a Cabernet lover would hope for in a twenty-buck Cab, and then some. Beautiful dark fruit flavors of black cherry and cassis are complemented by secondary notes of cedar, black pepper, dried herbs, sweet tobacco and a touch of black olive. The wine is full bodied and well balanced with hearty tannins that will stand up nicely to a perfectly cooked New York strip. Solid value here that drinks above its price of admission!
