Hess Select Treo Winemaker's Blend 2016
Sourced from select vineyards in Northern California, the grapes used in the Treo blend produces flavorful fruit with layers of agreeable acids and balanced tannins. The blend is ripe and bold, but not overly so. Meant for easy drinking pleasure right now, the tannins are purposefully softer for easy drinking.
"The art of blending is part of the winemaker's craft, an exercise that often proves the sum of the parts is a delicious outcome. Each year we select flavorful lots with a style in mind for our Treo blend. This year Petite Sirah made up the backbone, supported by a mix of Syrah, Zinfandel and Merlot with a touch of Cabernet Sauvignon. The result is a wine that is rich and full of flavor. The aromas call to mind a delicious barbeque with tamarind and sweet boysenberry lifting from the glass. On the mouth, bold, juicy red fruits lead to plush tannins and hints of grilled meats on the long, pleasant finish. The tannins are softer and easy drinking - we craft this blend to ensure the wine is accessible when you decide to open the bottle. Maybe that’s why it’s become so popular. Enjoy!" -Winemaker, Dave Guffy
Pair with grilled flank steak, salmon, mushrooms or a hamburger with blue cheese are my favorite pairings in the summer. Cured meats and aged cheeses like a Gouda or dry jack make a tasty meat and cheese platter.
