Cupcake Petite Sirah
This Petite Sirah from California's cool Central Coast areas is hardly petite in nature. Dense and full-bodied, this wine is bursting with dark cherry, luscious blackberry and bittersweet espresso flavors against a creamy backdrop. Tiny, Petite Sirah berries are gathered in the early morning before they are gently pressed and drained to limit skin contact. This approach brings the fruit forward in a soft, rich wine while minimizing tannins. Special yeast used during fermentation also boosts the wines fruit and structure. Some wine is kept in the tank while the rest is aged 12 months in French and American oak barrels to add creaminess.
