Gabriel Ferriere founded the winery in teh 18th Century. He passed it to his cousin who enlarged the estate in 1792. It remained in the Ferriere family until 1913 when Armand Feuillerat purchased it. In 1952 Te grandchildren of Armand Feuillerat leased to vineyard to Alexis Lichine for a 40 year period. In 1988 Jacques Merlaut purchased the property but due to the lease agreement, it was not until 1992 that he was able to produce wines. Today, the Chateau is run by Claire Villars who also owns Chateau Dufort Vivens, Chateau Haut Bages Liberal and Chateau la Gurgue.

With its 20 hectare vineyard, Château Ferrière has the smallest surface of vines of all the classified growths in 1855. The vineyard of Château Ferrière consists of 64% of Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot, 4% Petit Verdot and 2% Cabernet Franc.

Gentle-edged, with pretty plum and cherry paste flavors, lined with subtle cocoa and roasted cedar accents. Offers a supple, floral-accented finish.

Now run biodynamically, this estate is managed by Claire Villars-Lurton. This wine's bright fruit is crisp and full of acidity. The structure underlines the fruitiness, bringing some weight to the wine. It needs time, so drink from 2026.
