Jefferson's Ocean Aged at Sea Wheated Mash Bill
This bourbon started out as an experiment with just three bourbon barrels on a friend of the distiller's OCEARCH’s ship. It was a curious effort to discover what would happen if bourbon was left to weather the extreme elements: temperature fluctuations, salt air and the gentle rocking of the ship.
Due to a massive demand from consumers, this curious effort has now been commercialized and hundreds of barrels have been sent around the world. Each voyage of Jefferson’s Ocean typically crosses the equator four times, visits five continents and over 30 ports on an average sailing.
There was a peace and quiet about Voyage 25. A beauty that was imparted to the bourbon that was carried and lingered until the ship reached its final port back in Savannah, GA. As expected, the wheated bourbon is immediately subtle on the nose and dry up front. Unexpected is its slight burnt brown sugar taste and light liquorish finish. Like the voyage itself, OCEAN Voyage 25 is sweet, deep and mellow.
