This bourbon started out as an experiment with just three bourbon barrels on a friend of the distiller's OCEARCH’s ship. It was a curious effort to discover what would happen if bourbon was left to weather the extreme elements: temperature fluctuations, salt air and the gentle rocking of the ship.

Due to a massive demand from consumers, this curious effort has now been commercialized and hundreds of barrels have been sent around the world. Each voyage of Jefferson’s Ocean typically crosses the equator four times, visits five continents and over 30 ports on an average sailing.

This journey undeniably allows the elements to leave their mark.

Ocean Voyage 32 made its first port of call in the vibrant heart of the Caribbean - Puerto Rico. As the containers soaked in the lovely sunny weather, boasting an average temperature of 83.6, the barrels inside were continuing to sweat with the highest temperature reaching 113.9 in the height of the afternoon. The constant motion of the sea churns the whiskey, intensifying its interaction with the wood of the barrel, creating an exquisite symphony of flavors.
