The owner, Travis, proudly proclaims that they are the first combat disabled, veteran owned distillery in the US. Travis served three tours in Operation Iraqi Freedom, he received many medals and citations, was hit by several IEDs, and suffered a traumatic brain injury, ultimately resulting in an honorable discharge.

After re-entering civilian life, Travis attended and graduated law school. He met Hilary, his future wife, and they eventually got married. Shortly after, he began making whiskey, applying the same unwavering commitment he learned during his time serving his country. Around 2014, he decided to start a company since his whiskey was such a success.

To honor Travis' military service, the company was named based on the NATO phonetic alphabet: Hotel for Hilary, Tango for Travis.
