Arterberry Maresh 2022 Maresh Pinot Noir

Arterberry Maresh 2022 Maresh Pinot Noir

__
From 50 year old vines. Rose petal, black tea, rhubarb. Bright red, harmonious and complete. A streak of grip evenly fills the mouth and frames the layers of energetic red fruit.

The 2022 Pinot Noir Maresh Vineyard comes from vines planted in 1974 and was vinified and matured without new wood. It has a deep well of aromas that unfold slowly with each return to the glass: raspberry, strawberry and bitter orange give way to rosewater, rooibos tea leaves, forest floor and salumi. The palate is charming and effortless, balancing concentrated layers of perfumed fruit on a slender frame of silky tannins, and its vivacious energy and hauntingly long finish call you back to the glass again and again. While the 2021 Maresh Vineyard is chiseled and needs cellaring, this 2022 is already approachable.

The 2022 Pinot Noir Maresh Vineyard is compelling, to say the least, entrancing with its deep, dark and rich bouquet as black cherries are complicated by turned earth, flowery underbrush, and crushed ashen stones This is cool-toned, showing its mineralogy up front and creating an altoist sultry character. Depths of flinty, tart red berry fruit slowly saturate as zesty acidity maintains freshness. The 2022 is powerful and youthfully dense, with grippy tannins that take hold through the finish without slowing it’s momentum. It tapers off long with a hunt of balsam herbs that calls the taste back to the glass.

Very subtle on the nose with forest berries, tea leaves, Morello cherries, wild herbs and some warm spices. Medium-bodied, yet it’s big on the palate. Suave and velvety, with an intense beauty on the mid-palate. Delicate, gentle texture all in harmony, yet it’s vibrant, energetic and very focused. The finish is agile and lively, with so much focus and length. It's authentic, well-crafted and long. Drink or hold.
