This version of The Tyrconnell is aged 10 years, then is finished in casks previously used to age Madeira, a fortified wine hailing from a group of islands off the coast of Portugal. Bottled at 92 proof to bring out the flavor nuances of its casks, The Tyrconnell Madeira Cask Finish begins with a salty, red fruit flavor-filled nose before finishing dry, with prominent notes of cocoa, caramel, and allspice.

| This single malt has a fresh, bright scent with stone fruit and vanilla. The drying, relatively hot palate skews a bit darker, deepening to cocoa, oak, almond and dried apricot, plus a smoky hint in the finish and plenty of cinnamon and clove finish. A splash of water helps tone down the heat and softens flavors to vanilla, peach and ginger sizzle. |
