Chateau Mont-Perat Bordeaux 2018
One of the most renowned French wines in Asia since its appearance in the famous Japanese manga "The Drops of God". The first issue of this series showed the hero tasting a 2001 Mont-Pérat, with this exclamation: “It's Queen in a bottle!" (In reference to the legendary rock band featuring Freddie Mercury.) The result has been a phenomenal demand for this wine, and rightly so because the Despagne family has been doing excellent work since 1998. Chateau Mont Pérat covers around a hundred hectares on the high slopes of Capian, in the heart of Entre-Deux-Mers, with a pretty clay-gravelly soil on a limestone base.
Chateau Mont-Perat is a fruity, intense, supple wine with rounded tannins. The wine is made from Merlot blended with Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon. The reds are harmonious and balanced, the fruit and the terroir are respected, which offers supple and pulpy juices. It is recommended to leave this wine in the cellar for a while so that it reaches its fullness.

The 2018 Mont-Pérat has an attractive and quite mineral-driven bouquet of blackberry, raspberry, crushed rock and light sea spray aromas. The palate is medium-bodied with quite a strict, saline opening, but there is good depth, well-integrated oak and fine precision toward the finish. An excellent 2018 from Mont-Pérat. |

Aromas of cherries and crushed berries on the nose with cool mint, clove and chocolate notes. It’s medium-to full-bodied with firm, powdery tannins. Smooth and creamy. Drink or hold. |
