Gorgeous heady fruity ripe nose, showing some Pomerol glamour. Nice weight with juicy acidify but it’s also quite rich and serious with perfumed scents alongside strong liquorice and clove spice. Focused and quite tense at the moment in terms of texture, though the tannins are supple and this also has clarity and precision with pencil lead, cola cubes, dark chocolate, bitter herbal elements and cocoa powder. Characterful.
Wine Enthusiast: 93
Full of bright fruit, this wine is juicy and structured. Richness comes from impressive blackberry flavors allied to concentration. The wine should be ready from 2026.

The 2020 Quinault L’Enclos contains no Cabernet Sauvignon this year due to mildew. It has an intense bouquet of black cherries, blueberry and crushed iris flower. The oak is neatly enmeshed and feels delineated and tensile. The palate is medium-bodied with fine but firm tannins, and lightly spiced, with white pepper and sage seasoning the black fruit. Quite structured and powerful on the finish, this is a long-term Saint-Émilion that will benefit from several years in the cellar.
James Suckling: 94
Aromas of spiced dark fruit, toasted walnuts, cocoa, leafy herbs and light tobacco. Full-bodied with an array of ripe, juicy tannins. Structured and layered with vivid dark berries and a firm, lingering finish. Try after 2025.
