SUNU Matteri Pinot Noir 2018
The 2018 Matteri was fermented between French oak barrels and concrete with 35% whole cluster inclusion then aged for 16 months in 40% new French Oak. Site and clone come together in a firm and powerful wine, full of black fruits, rose petal, exotic spices, leather, dried citrus and tobacco. The palate is a blockbuster, alternating between bright fruit and concentrated minerality. The wine shows substantial structure, with the polished tannins indicating serious cellar potential.

The 2018 Pinot Noir Matteri Vineyard (35% whole clusters and 40% new oak) sports a translucent ruby hue to go with a juicy, Burgundian nose of red (and some black) fruits, forest floor, cedary spice, and earth. It's beautiful on the palate as well as and has a medium-bodied, crisp, focused, yet still pleasure-bent mouthfeel that carries good acidity as well as ripe tannins. Drink it over the coming decade.
