Palazzo Cabernet Franc Reserve 2018
The nose has signature Cab Franc floral tones of crushed violets & cassis, red and black cherries, & black raspberry fruit … with just a hint of chocolate! Displaying a velvety, heady mouthfeel … with soft and supple tannins! Cabernet Franc, when made correctly, is one of the great ‘food wines’ and offers amazing versatility in pairing with a broad range of foods! From quail and chicken dishes, to roast pork and bone end rib eye!! The wine drinks wonderfully now, and will continue to develop nicely over the next 10+ years!

My favorite of the Palazzo wines reviewed this year is the 2018 Cabernet Franc Reserve, which comes from Carneros. Vibrant purple in hue, it offers up scents of violets and black cherries, with hints of dark chocolate and caramel. Full-bodied and expansive, silky and long, it adds hints of licorice on the finish.

I loved the 2018 Cabernet Franc Reserve from this label, and it’s another smoking value. Cedary spice, red and black fruits, flowers, loamy earth, and some sappy herb notes all emerge from the glass, and it’s medium to full-bodied, has some classy oak, good mid-palate depth, and a great finish. All varietal aged in 30% new French oak, drink bottles any time over the coming 10-15 years.
