Cupcake Petite Sirah
This Petite Sirah from Californias cool Central Coast areas is hardly petite in nature. Dense and full-bodied, this wine is bursting with dark cherry, luscious blackberry and bittersweet espresso flavors against a creamy backdrop. We gather tiny Petite Sirah berries, packed tight with character, in the early morning before gently pressing and draining them to limit skin contact. This approach brings the fruit forward in a soft, rich wine while minimizing tannins. Special yeast used during fermentation also boosts the wines fruit and structure. We then keep some wine in the tank, and the rest is aged 12 months in French and American oak barrels to add creaminess.
