Chateau de Carles 2019
Silky on the palate and enveloped in tannins as delicate as they are melted, this wine draws the contours of a resolutely modern Fronsac. It is built around a deep, clean and greedy fruit. With a price-pleasure ratio at the top of Bordeaux, it is ready to drink immediately. It can also stay in the cellar for a generation.
Grape Composition: 90% Merlot, 5% Malbec, 5% Cabernet Franc

"Bright young and inky colour. Pure nose with chalky hints, ripe dark berries, violet, liquorice and fine spices. The palate is polished and digest with both density and freshness, youthful but ripe texture, savoury dark fruit and a long finish."

Casting a deep garnet-purple color, the 2019 Chateau de Carles charges out of the gates with bold black raspberries, Morello cherries and warm blueberries notes plus nuances of iris, licorice and spice cake. Medium to full-bodied, the palate delivers tons of mouth-coating red and black fruits, supported by soft, velvety tannins and oodles of freshness, finishing fragrant.

Perfumed nose of appealing bramble fruit. Dense and deep, with cooling dark cherry and blueberry on the palate. This feels more carefully controlled than some, a little less oak or extraction giving a better frame to the fruit. It's still rich and quite heady but in balance with good poise, power and a minty finish. Mouthwatering and fresh. Still needs a bit of time.

The 2019 de Carles is plump and racy, just as it was from barrel. Sweet red berry fruit, blood orange, chocolate, mint and sweet spice give this mid-weight exuberant Fronsac tons of charm and sheer appeal. Sweet floral and spice notes linger on the finish. De Carles is plush, open-knit and ready to deliver pleasure.

Lots of plum skin and spice with hints of subtle oak and dried flowers on the nose. Stones, too. Full-bodied with chewy, rich tannins that flow across the palate, making it a real mouthful. Sweet fruit at the end. This needs time to soften and come together. Traditional in style. Drink after 2024.

The 2019 Château De Carles has plenty to love. This plump, upfront, undeniably delicious 2019 has bright red and black fruits, a touch of tobacco and spice, medium to full body, and a good finish. It could end up being an outstanding Fronsac.
