A deep garnet hue with brilliant bright purple glints. Intensely aromatic with notes of violets, blackcurrant, flint and cigar-box. The entry is homogeneously velvety smooth. The tannins are silky. Great minerality, beautiful finesse and elegance. Outstanding length of flavor.

Wine Advocate: 92
A fleshy, dramatic rendition of this Moulis benchmark, the 2019 Poujeaux unwinds in the glass with a deep bouquet of blackberries and plums mingled with subtle hints of cigar wrapper, loamy soil and violets. Medium to full-bodied, velvety and layered, it's deep and seamless, with succulent acids, powdery tannins and a long, expansive finish. This has turned out brilliantly and numbers among the real sleepers of the vintage. Best After 2023.
Wine Enthusiast: 96
This dense wine is full of great potential. It shows rich tannins and concentrated black fruits contained within a restrained framework and finished with lively acidity. The wine will certainly age well.
James Suckling: 93
Very attractive chocolate, red-chili and cedar aromas and flavors. Lavender, too. Medium body with firm, polished tannins and a caressing finish. Pretty texture to this. It will be ready sooner than some. Try after 2024.
Jeb Dunnuck: 91
The 2019 Château Poujeaux showed beautifully, with classic Médoc notes of red and black currants, sweet tobacco, spice, and some floral and cedar nuances. With medium-bodied richness, supple tannins, and a great mid-palate, this thoroughly satisfying, impeccably made 2019 will keep for 10-15 years. Best After 2022.
