Martin Ray Diamond Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon 2018
The 2018 Martin Ray Diamond Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon opens with notes of black berry, mulberry, with black currant, dried mountain sage, and cedar. A striking mineral-driven backbone with touches of graphite, backed by fleshy acidity, and powerful tannins.

Sappy and dense, with dark cassis, plum reduction and blackberry paste flavors carried by a graphite edge. Robust in feel from start to finish, with roasted apple wood and tar notes running along the edges and then meeting up with the fruit on the finish. Needs time. Best from 2024 through 2034.

Very typical for this area of Napa with conifer, pine needles, fresh herbs and currants on the nose, following through to a full body with lots of fruit and a pleasing edge of toasted oak and Spanish cedar. The alcohol comes out a little at the end, but it should balance out nicely with bottle age.
