Chateau Reynon Rouge 2016
Chateau Reynon Rouge has a deep color and subdued aromas with licorice black-currant and smoky nuances; the flavors are velvety, elegant and powerful. They have an exceptional style that privileges the freshness of the fruit, strength, balance and subtlety of the flavors.

Fresh cherry and currant preserve flavors are lined with a light vanilla streak, staying fresh and defined through the finish. |

Of course, the 2016 Chateau Reynon will always be tinged with sadness as it was the year that proprietor Denis Dubourdieu passed away. This is quite upfront and bold on the nose and perhaps "glossier" than I expected. The palate is very tannic and firm on the entry with touches of tobacco and sea salt, grippy in the mouth. It is clearly a wine destined for the long-term, so afford it two or three years in bottle. |

Harvested under the direction of the Dubourdieu sons, this smoky wine is ripe, full of rich juicy fruit as well as firm tannins. A layer of strong black fruits is balanced by acidity. This rich, deliciously fruity wine has a fine future. Drink from 2022. Best Buy. |

Dense and fruity with blueberry, salt and crushed-stone character. Medium to full body and a savory finish. |
