Longmorn Distillery began in 1893 when John Duff, Charles Shirres and George Thomson combined forces and opened the distillery. Production began the very next year. A few years later, John Duff opened Benraich distillery right next door to Longmorn. Both distilleries were hard hit by the collapse of a large wholesale buyer in the late 1890's. It passed through many different owners during the 1900s until, along with The Glenlivet and Glen Grant, it formed The Glenlivet Distillers Ltd. This group was later purchased by Chivas Brothers in the late 1970s. Chivas Brothers was purchased by Pernod Ricard in 2001 and that is where we stand currently.

The “First Editions” range of single barrel expressions is always released at natural cask strength, and of course without coloring or chill filtration. As the name may suggest, each cask is carefully selected to evoke the qualities of rare literary volume - those of character and collectability. Color-coding on the labels denotes the particular regions the whiskies themselves are from and each bottle is individually numbered and presented in a gift tube. A “First Editions” bottling without doubt makes a valuable addition to anyone’s whisky library.

Tasting Notes:
A fresh, green nose with notes of apple peel, hints of citrus and herbs, balsa wood, calvados and plenty of dry oaken tannins. The palate is rich and compact with notes of lemon zest and leafy greenness. A good level of tannins develops with vinous character and spice. The oak is dry and full with a long and zesty finish.
