The Auchroisk distillery is relatively new to the distilling game. The distillery was founded in the 1970s with the main use for its whiskey being in the J&B blend. The distillery thought the name Auchroisk was too hard to pronounce, so they renamed their scotch The Singleton, which was later produced at the distillery in the 1980s.

The “First Editions” range of single barrel expressions is always released at natural cask strength, and of course without coloring or chill filtration. As the name may suggest, each cask is carefully selected to evoke the qualities of rare literary volume - those of character and collectability. Color-coding on the labels denotes the particular regions the whiskies themselves are from and each bottle is individually numbered and presented in a gift tube. A “First Editions” bottling without doubt makes a valuable addition to anyone’s whisky library.

This scotch was bottled at cask strength after slowly aging for 23 years. It comes from a single sherry cask and only 450 bottles were produced. This Scotch also fits an extra niche: it was distilled in 1990, so technically it could be a 30 year gift.

Tasting Notes:
A sweet, malty, leafy nose with aromas of burnt toffee. Creamy and sweet on the palate, with hints of rhubarb, peaches and leafy, malty notes appearing. The finish is long and dry with just a hint of malt.
