Chateau Rieussec R de Rieussec Blanc 2017
“R” de Rieussec is produced on the Château Rieussec estate, a Sauternes Premier Cru Classé. It is partly produced from the same vines as the Sauternes. 20% of fermentation takes place in barrels. This technique enhances the wine’s potential to age, while preserving its freshness and the natural fruitiness from the grapes.
The complex, delicate nose reveals itself gradually, with a subtle blend of tropical fruit, menthol and an elegant oakiness. Ultimately, floral aromas dominate, but notes of fresh tropical fruit remain present in the background. The palate is initially very fresh, the butteriness from the barrel-aging is immediately expressed, but not excessively. The wine then develops superb volume, completely filling the palate. The long finish returns to a delightful youthful acidity, with a hint of the menthol from the nose.
"A blend of close to equal parts Sauvignon and Semillon, the 2017 R De Rieussec offers a classic Bordeaux blanc nose of ripe lemons, white flowers, and crushed rocks. With a touch of salinity, medium body, and bright acidity, it's a classy, balanced, high-quality white." -92pts, Jeb Dunnuck

|Composed of 53% Sémillon and 47% Sauvignon Blanc, the 2017 R de Rieussec simply sings of ripe peaches, pink grapefruit and lemon curd with touches of elderflowers, honeysuckle and straw. The palate is medium-bodied and packed with zingy stone fruit and citrus layers, supported by a wicked backbone of freshness, finishing long and minerally.|

|Very aromatic with cooked pears, lemon rind, peaches and stone. This is very powerful and rich with depth and intensity that show superb power. Dense and foursquare with wild fruit. It’s phenolic and exciting. Needs a little time to soften the edges. Try after 2020.|
