Comte De Baulieu Haut Medoc Bordeaux 2018
This 'second wine' was made using the younger vines of top Cru Bourgeois property Chateau Ramage la Batisse - neighbor to Chateau Lafite Rothschild! Second wines are great quality, but a fraction of the price of top bottles. As a Haut-Medoc, it's primarily made of Cabernet Sauvignon, which gives it a great tannic structure, but unlike typical clarets which are aged in oak, this wine was aged in stainless steel and concrete vats. This method keeps the fruit flavors bright and fresh!
Overall, the wine is slightly woody, spicy and fruity. Flexible and very enjoyable to drink now. It can accompany cold cuts and white meats.
Grape Composition: 59% Cabernet Sauvignon, 39% Merlot, 2% Cabernet Franc
